A filakto is traditionally pinned to clothing of babies and little ones for protection.
This filakto features the Konstantinato, which has been a symbol of the Orthodox Church since Byzantium. The front features a cross and the letters IC XC NI KA, an abbreviation for “Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς νικᾷ”, which translates to Jesus Christ Victorious.
The back features an icon of saints Constantine and Helen. Constantine, a Roman Emperor, and his mother Helen are credited for spreading the word of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire. The mother and son are always depicted together, which is why Konstantinata are a popular gift given to newborns in Greece.
